I wish there was a poll option on here.

Brad announced in another post,  https://forums.elementalgame.com/408541/page/2/#2941809 ,  that there will be a future Stardock store for their own stuff, and WOM will be on there.

The question is would you rather purchase a future Stardock game on Impulse, or on a successor to Stardock Central?  This isn't meant to be a slam Gamestop thread, and I hope no one does this.  Even if I'd prefer to buy direct, it doesn't mean I wouldn't use Impulse for other stuff.

Personally- my preference would be to purchase on a future SDC.

Pros:

- purchasing from Stardock means Stardock gets a higher percentage of the money I spend.  This will improve their profitability, and therefore, their future game development

- I believe that purchasing from Stardock means I am less likely to have issues with DRM on my purchase.

- I believe that beta patches will come more quality on Stardock-owned servers

Cons:

- This may make using the features of Impulse more difficult for Stardock in the future, and this may also disable certain Impulse features. *

- Impulse may run sales

* The Impulse features in WOM are quite nice, but I don't feel they add anything important to the game.  I may feel differently if I played a Stardock game in multiplayer- but Stardock would have to make a game with good multiplayer first.

steam or bust

fuck gamestop

and screw having to deal with ANOTHER download service, i dont give a shit who does it..... i gave in and used impulse in addition to steam, now im staying exclusively steam again....

I use Steam, Impulse, GOG, and D2D for most of my gaming purchases nowadays.  So long as the prices are reasonable and the same across the board I don't mind whichever service I use.  It helps with keeping CD keys organized and easy to find as well.

I don't I would use a new Stardock DD, since I used Impulse. If they don't use Impulse and I want the Stardock game I guess I would use thier new service, but I rather stick to Impulse because for me, that is what I am use to.

If Impulse becomes like Steam, then I will quit using Impulse and will go to GOG or Stardocks new service then. But for me, Impulse is good enough for now.

Whichever option gives Stardock more $$$ I will use.

If it's the same, then Impulse is fine. Unless Gamestop makes changes to Impulse that make it dramatically worse that is.

I won't continue to purchase from Impulse. As soon as Stardock makes my games and updates available somewhere else I'll uninstall Impulse and never look back. It can't happen soon enough for me.

I like buying direct when it's a major publisher with a worthwhile client, as in EA Downloader/Origin.  Otherwise I'm just gonna stick with Steam and Impulse.

At this point, GOOD OLD GAMES @ gog.com is the *only* service I will purchase an online game from. Stardock could (but probably won't) pursue gog as a distribution channel unless they retain a financial, legal, or "spiritual" interest in impulse.

However, since I still buy games as a physical product, Stardock has nothing to worry about in terms of losing my business.

PS: Sorry, digital distribution heralds: been burned too much by "digital distribution" to go down that road again without complete confidence in the provider's product.

This, I don't want to use Impulse but I'm being forced because I want to update my physical copy of Gal Civ 2... Is there any way to update my gal civ 2 without impulse?

Also, if stardock licenced their games to GoG.com I would buy them again... I already mentioned in several threads at gog how I would like for stardock games to be on GoG and I do think it would bring new life to Stardock's games, mainly Demigod.

GoG for GalCiv I would make sense right now, maybe even GalCiv II since those games aren't being updated anymore.

Would actually be a nice promotional idea for FE.  Remind folks of the good Stardock that's coming back, not the overextended SD that was 2010.

I never liked impulse and I like it even less nos tha gamespot is in charge. I only have a few titles there that were not on steam. I like having all my stuff in one place. I hope stardock goes with steam or back to stardock central.

Steam or bust.

Easy choice for me, since I don't have any Impulse content except Stardock games and I don't much like Impulse.

Impulse has always sucked compared to Steam so I vote Steam as long as I don't have to log into Steam just to play the game
